The gauges that dont light up are the main gauges. The only lights that work are the small ones bellow the speedo and gas gauge. This is my first time working on electrical and I'm relatively new to auto work in general. I wiggled the dash all around (with the headlights on), but couldn't get the dash lights on. Where the lights go in (I'm guessing "ILL" is for illumination and "G-" is for ground), the connection looks rather worn and gouged from twisting the lights in (I can't imagine ALL of them happen to be worn out). Most of the time replacing the tail light fuse will restore both the tail lights and the dash/interior lights. The first thing to check is that the tail light fuse is not blown. Dash lights not working is an indication that the tail lights are not working. Then touch the taillight housing and see if the lights work. On the back of the dash is that ciricuit board looking thing. Dash lights are on the same fuse as the tail lights. Take a long piece of wire and attach it to the ground on the battery. The point where the instrument cluster connects to the van has some play, which makes me think the connection is not lining up for the illumination lights, but somehow is alright for the others. I hit a bump going down the highway that made them stay on for a while as well (went out when I turned off the van to refuel). I used to be able to smack the dash or push on it a certain way when the lights went out, and they would go back on. In addition, the trucks main computer can set various check engine light codes that have nothing to do with the actual malfunction. When these parts malfunction the airbag light can come on. The warning lights and high-beam and turn signal indicators work on the dash. Nevertheless, the Chevrolet intermittent electrical problem can even throw an experienced technician in the wrong direction. ![]() All lights work except the ones illuminating the instrument cluster. The fuse block is located on the lower portion of the instrument panel on the driver’s side.
